Description
Soul Food (2001) was the 3rd album. It was also recorded while in Valdosta, GA. I had grown a bit as a writer, singer, engineer, producer (as always/still). I had more to say in song and more people to do it with! My old friend and bandmate, Edward Harris was on board to help with some engineering. The concept for this album was based on what the world calls “Soul Food” vs what I call “Soul Food”. For me it’s a spiritual thing with the same ramifications as physical food—garbage in/bad diet = garbage out/poor quality of life and regrets. One of the songs, The Prodigal Son, written by my father in song, the late great Robert Ivory Sr (RIP) of the Inner-City Singers of Birmingham, AL is an enduring story of God’s love and our repentance. Hello Mama, has a dark theme (incarceration) yet one that permeates many Christian homes. Thank God for “nutha” chances! You’re Never Alone is a reminder to all of us, esp the youth that suicide is not the answer to life’s challenges. It’s a permanent solution to temporary problems. On this album you will find your Appetizers, Sides, Bread of Life, The Main Course, Dessert and a Midnight Snack in song!
